Having opted to bat first, Sri Lanka put on a sorry show with the bat! They scored just 122 for 6 in 20 overs courtesy a half-century from captain Chamari Athapaththu (50 off 38). In reply, Australia chased down the target with 5 wickets in hand and 3 balls to spare. The chase was dented with three early wickets but Rachael Haynes (60 off 47) and captain Meg Lanning (41 off 44) took them over the line comfortably with a 95-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Haynes has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for her match winning half-century. Australia are scheduled to play Bangladesh on Thursday (Feb 27) while Sri Lanka has their next game against India on Saturday (Feb 29).
