After being sent in to bat first, Delhi were put under lot of pressure with some tight bowling from Mohammad Shami. They lost 3 wickets for just 13 runs and a partnership between captain Shreyas Iyer and wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant helped them recover after the early loss. Marcus Stoinis then played a superb knock - 53 runs off 21 deliveries with 7 fours and 3 sixes - which helped Delhi to finish with a competitive total of 157/8 in 20 overs.
At one stage, Delhi struggled to finish anywhere near the 130-run mark! But the final over of the innings bowled by Chris Jordan came as a blessing for the Capitals. Stoinis scored two sixes and three fours in that over as Delhi squeezed 30 runs from the final over to finish with a competitive total. From being under lot of pressure until the end of 19th over, Delhi had given them a chance with a 157-run total!

In reply, Kings XI Punjab started off on a positive note. They were 30/0 and the collapse started with Mohit Sharma cleaning up KXIP captain KL Rahul in the fifth over of Punjab's innings. And then Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Karun Nair and Nicholas Pooran in the first and fifth deliveries of the sixth over. Rabada then dismissed Maxwell in the seventh over.
From a position of 30/0, Punjab slumped to 35/4 in no time! And losing their fifth wicket with just 55 runs on the board only applied salt to their wounds! Opener Mayank Agarwal who was watching all the action from the other end then managed to stitch a 46-run sixth-wicket stand with Krishnappa Gowtham and a 56-run seventh-wicket stand with Chris Jordan.
Both the partnerships helped Punjab to level the scores after 19.3 overs. Dot ball, Wicket (Mayank) and Wicket (Jordan) helped Delhi push the game in to a Super Over. Agarwal was dismissed for a personal score of 89 off 60 deliveries (7 fours and 4 sixes). The man in-form Stoinis bowled the 20th over pushing the game into a Super Over!
What happened in the Super Over:
Punjab Batsmen: KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell
Delhi Bowler: Kagiso Rabada
