Team News:
South Africa:
South African captain Quinton de Kock has led them so far in 8 games in this T20I format - 3 wins and 5 losses. When they meet England on Nov 27, he certainly would want to improve his captaincy record in this format. Moreover, De Kock scored over 500 runs as opener for Mumbai Indians in IPL as he played his role in helping them bag their record fifth title in the tournament.
On the other hand, pacers Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada (both played for Delhi Capitals) lit up IPL 2020 with some serious pace. Nortje even bowled the fastest delivery in the history of IPL and Rabada with 30 wickets ended up as the top wicket taker in the IPL 2020 season. It would be exciting to see them in action in this three-match T20I series against the strong English line-up.
Squad: Quinton de Kock (c), Temba Bavuma, Junior Dala, Faf du Plessis, Bjorn Fortuin, Beuran Hendricks, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, George Linde, Keshav Maharaj, Janneman Malan, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Lutho Sipamla, Jon-Jon Smuts, Glenton Stuurman, Pite van Biljon, Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne
England:
Visitors are looking strong enough to beat Proteas in this three-match T20I series with a lot of experience in the line-up - batsmen, all-rounders and bowlers. Moreover, many of them are returning from a successful stint in the IPL. It would be interesting to watch them again in action in the shortest format of the game. Not to mention, nine out of 15 players in this squad have recently featured in 2020 season of the Indian Premier League.
Despite having a good domestic T20 season, Joe Root was still not considered for this three-match T20I series against South Africa. His last appearance in this format came in 2019! Keeping his Test captaincy role in mind, England might have given him the much needed break during this bio-bubble era of cricket.
Squad: Eoin Morgan (c), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonathan Bairstow, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, Mark Wood
