England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have shuffled their coaching staff for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka as part of which two Test matches are scheduled to be played. In what comes as a big announcement, former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis has been appointed as batting consultant for the England team!
“Seven coaches will join the squad for the two-Test tour, with the tour party departing on 2 January. Former South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis joins the England setup for the first time as batting coaching consultant,” stated ECB in their media release.
Chris Silverwood would continue as head coach and former England player Paul Collingwood would continue as Assistant Coach. Here are the other positions in England’s coaching staff for the Sri Lanka tour – James Foster (Wicketkeeper Coaching Consultant), Carl Hopkinson (Fielding Coach), Jacques Kallis (Batting Coaching Consultant), Jon Lewis (Bowline Coach), Jeetan Patel (Spin Bowling Coaching Consultant).
As per the tour itinerary released by the ECB, the England squad is set to leave for Sri Lanka on January 02 from London. Training sessions will be conducted at the Mahinda Rajapaksha International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota before the start of the Test series.
As part of this tour, England are scheduled to play two Test matches starting from January 14. Both the matches in this tour will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium in Galle. The first match will be played between Jan 14 and Jan 18 while the second Test will be played beginning from Jan 22. Once the series is concluded, England are to depart Sri Lanka on January 27.
