England who is currently touring in Sri Lanka has announced their squad for the first two Test matches of the upcoming four-match series against India. Keeping the tight schedule and the bio-bubble in view, they have rested Jonny Bairstow, Mark Wood and Sam Curran for these two India Tests.
Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Rory Burns who have been currently rested for the ongoing two-match Test series in Sri Lanka have made a return to the Test squad for the first two India Tests! On the other hand, Jos Buttler is set to return home after first India Test match. With Bairstow rested, Ben Foakes is expected to do the glove work in the second Test match against India.
Meanwhile, Ollie Pope who is currently recovering from a shoulder injury will continue his rehabilitation in India. Pope’s inclusion in the India series is subject to proving his fitness.
England is currently playing the second and final Test of the 2-match series in Sri Lanka. Post the conclusion of the series, they will travel to India for a 4-match Test series starting from Feb 05. The first two Tests will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai while the next two Test matches will be hosted by the newly constructed Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.
