The inexperienced West Indies was no match for the Bangladesh side at home in the recently concluded 3-match ODI series. Windies were unable to even get past the 150-mark in the first two ODIs while scored just 177 runs chasing 298 to win in the third and final ODI of the series. However, West Indies pacer Kemar Roach believes that they will bounce back in the 2-match Test series with the return of seniors to the side.
“The one-day series didn’t go as well as we’d have liked. We have to understand it was a very young and inexperienced team. It was just a learning curve for those guys to take back home and learn from it, and improve their games to come back stronger,” said Kemar Roach.
“Couple of the Test guys have been here before. We know what to expect. I expect the guys to give a better showing. Put up a better fight and win some games for the West Indies,” added Roach.
“We have to be positive and execute our plans the best as we can. Bangladesh is always a tough tour. The guys are working hard for three weeks. We know what we have to do to put on a good score on the board, and take 20 wickets in the match. It is about going out there and giving it our best shot, and put in a good show,” said Roach.
The two-match Test series between Bangladesh and West Indies will be played in Chattogram (Feb 03 – 07) and in Dhaka (Feb 11 – 15). Unlike the ODI squad, the West Indies Test squad includes veteran players and will be captained by Kraigg Brathwaite.
