Perth Scorchers thumped on-song Brisbane Heat in the Challenger to book a Final date with Sydney Sixers. Scorchers’ top three completely batted Heat out of this game. In a pressure game, posting a huge total batting first is always a great asset that gives you rich dividends!
After being sent in to bat first, Perth top 3 did not put a foot wrong in this innings. Liam Livingstone scored 77 runs off just 39 deliveries to give them a flying start. His knock included 5 fours and 6 sixes. Cameron Bancroft (58*) and Mitchell Marsh (49*) both remained unbeaten to take Perth to 189/1 in 18.1 overs before rain interrupted the match. Once the rain relented, Heat’s target was revised to 200 in 18 overs.
Heat openers started well adding 37 runs inside 4 overs but after their departure, the rest of the batters went into catch up mode. Joe Burns was their top-scorer with 38 runs but Heat did not come any closer to chasing down the target! In the end, they managed to score just 150 runs in 18 overs losing 9 wickets.
Scorchers opener Liam Livingstone has been adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match’ for his explosive knock at the top of the order. With this 49-run victory, Perth Scorchers moved to Final and will play against Sydney Sixers on Saturday (Feb 06).
