TNCA release Natarajan as per BCCI request

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has released young pacer T Natarajan from their squad for the upcoming 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy in a bid to keep him fresh for the limited-overs leg against England which starts next month. The young pacer was crucial for India’s plans in the limited-overs leg in Australia and they are planning to use him effectively against England at home as well.

The BCCI and the Indian team management wanted Natarajan to be fresh for the white-ball leg of the series against England. Keeping the Indian team’s interests in mind we said yes,” said TNCA secretary, R S Ramasaamy.

The right-arm quick RS Jaganath Sinivas will take Natarajan’s place in Tamil Nadu’s 20-member squad. They will play their first game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2020-21 season on Feb 20 against Punjab.

Natarajan was the find of Sun Risers Hyderabad during the IPL 2020 season in UAE. He bowled yorkers brilliantly during death overs and that specialty helped him make his debut for India in the tour of Australia which commenced in a month’s gap after the conclusion of IPL 2020. He stayed with the Indian team until the end of the Australia tour and also made his Test debut at Gabba earlier this year in January which India won quite comfortably and had rewritten history!

The limited-overs leg between India and England will kick start on March 12 with the 5-match T20I series. Once the T20Is are concluded, both these teams will play a 3-match ODI series which will be concluded on March 28. India are yet to announce their squads for the T20I and ODI series against England and it would be interesting to see if Natajan would get to feature in both the squads against England.
