Bangladesh announced a tour itinerary for Sri Lanka games who are set to tour Bangladesh for a limited-overs series later this month. The three ODI matches which are to be played as part of this tour will be part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League. All these three games will be played at the same venue – Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Cricket Board, the bio-secure bubble for these games will be stretched from team hotel to the ground as they have prepared a strict protocol for this series. The three ODI games will be played on May 23, 25 & 28. During the non-match days, players are allowed to train at the BCB National Cricket Academy.
As per the itinerary, Sri Lanka will arrive in Bangladesh on 16th May. The visitors will be placed in quarantine for two days before starting their training on 19th May at the BCB National Cricket Academy. Sri Lankans will also be allowed to play a one-day practice match on 21st May at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan before the original series starts. Once the series gets concluded on 28th May, Sri Lankans will leave for their country on 29th May.
As part of the ongoing ICC ODI Super League, Bangladesh already played two series earlier – one against West Indies (won by 3-0) and the other against New Zealand (lost by 3-0). On the other hand, Sri Lanka lost their only series so far in this cycle against West Indies in West Indies by 3-0. Bangladesh with 30 points are currently placed at the 6th position of the 13-team table while Sri Lanka are at the 12th position with -2 points. They bagged -2 points for a slow over-rate offense in West Indies.
Bangladesh have last week completed their 2-match Test series in Sri Lanka which the visiting side lost by 1-0. The first Test ended in a draw with both teams scoring heavily while Sri Lanka made a strong comeback to win the second Test match as well as the series.
