Mohammad Amir to make his debut in the CPL

Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir will feature in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the first time with the upcoming season later this year. The Barbados Tridents have signed this prized left-arm seamer for the upcoming season, which begins in August 2021 in St Kitts and Nevis. In the 190 T20s in his career thus far, Amir has accounted for 220 wickets at an economy rate of just over seven. This

In other news, veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik returns to the Guyana Amazon Warriors, where he played a pivotal role in the team’s 11-game winning streak in 2019. Sadly, they ended on the wrong side in the final match of that season. For the record, they were beaten in the hands of Barbados Tridents by a margin of 27 runs.

Sandeep Lamichhane, a sensational legspinner from Nepal, has also joined the Trinbago Knight Riders for the season. After playing for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Barbados Tridents, and Jamaica Tallawahs in the last three seasons, this will be his fourth CPL team. Playing for the fourth team in as many years makes it most challenging not just for the player but also for his new team as well to adjust him on such short notice!

According to Cricket West Indies, the upcoming CPL 2021 edition which involves 33 matches including the finals, will be hosted at a single venue – Warner Park in St Kitts and Nevis. The tournament will kick start on the 28th of August and will conclude with the final on the 19th of September.
