India got off to a good start with brisk knocks from Suryakumar Yadav (39 off 19), Deepak Hooda (33 off 17), and Rohit Sharma (24 off 14). Hardik Pandya (51 off 33) scored a quick fifty towards the end which helped India get to a massive total of 198/8 in 20 overs. Chris Jordan was England's most effective bowler with figures of 2/23 from his 4 overs.

England, during the chase, were hit hard by the first-ball Duck of their captain Jos Buttler. The other opener Jason Roy too made a slow start scoring just 4 runs from the 16 deliveries he faced! The other hard-hitting England player Liam Livingstone too was dismissed for a 3-ball Duck and that sealed the game for the visitors!

Four of England's batters went past the 20-mark but England got nowhere near India's total. The home team was bowled out for just 148 runs in 19.3 overs as India bagged a 50-run victory to go 1-0 up in the 3-match series. India's debutant Arshdeep Singh registered bowling figures of 2/18 from his 3.3 overs.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya bagged 4 wickets conceding 33 runs from his 4 overs after scoring a half-century in the first half of the game. Hardik Pandya, courtesy of this all-around performance, has been adjudged as the Player of the Match.
