Australia announce strong playing XI for 1st Windies Test

Australian captain Pat Cummins has announced their playing XI for the first Test match of the 2-match series against West Indies which starts tomorrow at the Perth Stadium in Perth. There are no surprises in the playing XI as the home team looked to be getting all set for the all-important home Test series against South Africa towards the end of this year!

Pacer Scott Boland and reserve opener Marcus Harris were the two players to miss out on the playing XI from the home team that had earlier announced a 13-member squad for this first Test. Usman Khawaja and David Warner are set to open in this Test match while the in-form Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith follow them in the next two positions.

Travis Head was exceptional with the bat during last year's Ashes and retained his place in the XI along with all-rounder Cameron Green and wicket-keeper Alex Carey in Australia's middle order. It is hard to beat this batting line-up in the Australian conditions and they would surely test the bowling might of the West Indies team.

There are no surprises in their bowling line-up. Skipper Pat Cummins along with Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood form their pace attack while spinner Nathan Lyon is the lone front-line spinner in this line-up. It would be a great sight to witness this bowling attack in action in Australian conditions! Moreover, Cameron Green is more than a part-time bowler while Labuschange and Head pick up wickets as well and will be their part-timers in this first Test match.

Australia playing XI for the first Test: David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon
