Another No-result in the series as the home team New Zealand declared winners by virtue of their thumping victory in the first ODI of this 3-match series! The home team won the first ODI by a 7-wicket margin while only 12.5 overs were bowled in the second ODI (No Result).

Even though New Zealand was ahead of the DLS score in the 3rd ODI by 50 runs after the 18-over mark, the mandatory 20 overs were not bowled in the second innings for the DLS method to take effect and declare a winner. Hence, the third ODI goes down as No-Result. With a lead of 1-0 in this 3-match series, New Zealand bagged the ODI series.

Earlier in this third ODI, New Zealand won the toss and elected to field first. Barring Shreyas Iyer's 59-ball 49, India's top order showed no promise with the bat. Washington Sundar scored a brilliant half-century before being dismissed on 51 by Tim Southee. Sundar walked in at 121-5 and it was his partnerships with the lower order that helped India cross the 200-mark and get to 219 before getting bowled out!

Daryl Mitchell and Adam Milne both starred with the ball for the home team with 3 wickets each while Tim Southee picked up 2 wickets. Lockie Ferguson and Mitchell Santner also contributed with the ball having claimed a wicket each.

In reply, New Zealand scored 104 runs losing the wicket of Finn Allen (57 off 54) in 18 overs. Devon Conway (38* off 51) and Kane Williamson (0* off 3) were at the crease when the rain stopped the match. The match did not resume afterward and was declared as No Result.

Keeping aside the rain interruptions, New Zealand showed great dominance in this 3-match ODI series and were deserved champions of the series. Meanwhile, this is India's first ODI series defeat under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan having previously won against Sri Lanka, West Indies, and South Africa.
