According to a Cricket Australia media release, Cummins is currently under medical supervision due to soreness in his right quadriceps. "Pat Cummins is experiencing some mild right-sided quadricep soreness. He will continue to be monitored by team medical staff and his availability to bowl in the second innings will be assessed on an ongoing basis," according to a Cricket Australia media release.
Cummins did not come onto the field in West Indies' second innings and his chances of bowling are very less in the rest of the Test match. According to Cricket Australia, he will only bowl in the remainder of the Perth Test only if the team medical staff deems him to be fit.
During the first innings, Pat Cummins completed 200 wickets in Tests with the wicket of his counterpart Kraigg Brathwaite. He was the only Australian bowler out of 19 to have claimed 200 Test wickets at a bowling average of fewer than 22 runs per wicket.
There is no confirmation yet on Cummins' availability for the second Test match in Adelaide against West Indies. Incidentally, the Australian captain also missed Adelaide Test last year against England after reportedly breaking the Covid bubble protocol.
