Veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami injured himself during a training session in Bangladesh and has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh in Bangladesh. The series is scheduled to kick start on Sunday (Dec 04) with 3 ODIs upfront followed by 2 Test matches.

BCCI through their media release confirmed the news while announcing the young quick Umran Malik as his replacement in the ODI squad. Shami last played an ODI for India on the England tour this year in July and was expected to get match practice before the all-important ODI World Cup next year which would be hosted by India.
"Fast bowler Mohd. Shami sustained a shoulder injury during a training session in the lead-up to the ODI series against Bangladesh. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team at the NCA, Bengaluru, and will not be able to take part in the three-match series. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umran Malik as Shami’s replacement."
Shami bagged 152 wickets in 82 ODIs for India with an economy rate of just 5.60. He was such an asset to India in this format and was a good partner in crime for Bumrah in this format of the game! On the other hand, Umran made his ODI debut during the New Zealand tour and claimed 3 wickets just from his 15 overs.
