England pacer Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the limited overs leg of the ongoing tour of South Africa owing to a (right) elbow injury. The same has been confirmed by the England Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday (Jan 29).
After picking up five wickets in the first Test match against South Africa, Archer missed the remaining three games which England won comfortably to register a come-from-behind 3-1 series victory. A rare 'Away' series victory for England during these tough times!
England included Saqib Mahmood as a replacement for injured Archer in the T20I squad. Archer was not named in the ODI squad earlier while Mahmood who was earlier named in the ODI squad was not picked for the T20I series! The three-match ODI series between South Africa and England kicks off on February 4 followed by three-match T20I series starting from January 12 in East London.
