India defeated New Zealand in the third T20I at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Wednesday (Jan 29) courtesy a last-ball 'Super Over' finish to take an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the series. With this victory, India seal the series with two games to go while New Zealand are yet to win a game in this five-match series.
After being put to bat first, India posted a par score of 179 for 5 in 20 overs courtesy a half-century from Rohit Sharma (65 off 40). In reply, New Zealand too posted the same total to tie the game and go into a Super Over. New Zealand scored 17 runs having batted first in the Super Over which India chased down convincingly.
Rohit Sharma has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for his 65 in the match and 15 runs in the Super Over. The fourth T20I is scheduled to be played at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on Friday (Jan 31).
