2nd ODI: Sri Lanka defeated West Indies by 161 runs

Sri Lanka defeated West Indies by a margin of 161 runs in the second ODI in Hambantota on Wednesday (Feb 26) to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series. The 239-run partnership for second wicket between Avishka Fernando (127 off 123) and Kusal Mendis (119 off 119) proved to be very crucial for the hosts in this game!

After being sent in to bat first, Sri Lanka piled runs on the scorecard (345 for 8 in 50 overs) courtesy twin centuries from Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis. Windies pacers Sheldon Cottrell (4/67) and Alzarri Joseph (3/57) shared 7 wickets between them. In reply, Windies were bowled out for just 184 losing the game by a whooping margin of 161 runs.

Avishka Fernando has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for anchoring the innings with wickets falling at the other end! The third and final ODI of the series is scheduled to be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on Sunday (Mar 01). Play is scheduled to start at 02:30 pm IST.
