England Women thumped Thailand Women at Manuka Oval in Canberra by a margin of 98 runs on Wednesday (Feb 26) to register their first victory of the tournament. Thailand, though sent both England openers for a Duck each they couldn't maintain the same momentum later on in the innings.
After being sent into bat first, England lost both their openers with just 7 runs on the board. Captain Heather Knight (108* off 66) and Natalie Sciver (59* off 52) then took them to 176 for 2 in 20 overs with an unbeaten 169-run stand for the third wicket! In reply, Thailand scored just 78 for 7 in 20 overs to concede a 98-run victory to England.
England captain Heather Knight has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for her maiden century in the T20I format. England are scheduled to play their next game against Pakistan on Friday (Feb 28) while Thailand too play their next game on same day against South Africa.
