Qualifier: Sydney Sixers defeated Melbourne Stars by 43 runs

Second ranked Sydney Sixers defeated first ranked Melbourne Stars by a margin of 43 runs in the Qualifier on Friday (Jan 31) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne. With this victory, Sixers booked a place in the BBL Final while Melbourne Stars has a second chance to see their fate in the tournament!

After being put to bat first, Sydney Sixers posted just 142 for 7 on the board in 20 overs. Though the score looked to be below par, it was more than enough for the star-studded Melbourne Stars who were bowled out for just 99 runs conceding a 43-run victory for Sixers. Sean Abbott picked up three wickets while Josh Hazlewood and Steve O'Keefe bagged two wickets each from Sixers.

Steve O'Keefe bagged 'Player of the Match' award for picking up two crucial wickets. With this latest development, Melbourne Stars on Thursday (Feb 06) are scheduled to play the winner of Knockout game between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder.
