Australia committed to hosting India in 2020-21 summer season!

Australia were scheduled to play a one-off Test against Afghanistan (Dec 07 - Dec 11) and a three-match ODI series against New Zealand (Jan 26 - Feb 02) later this summer. However, both these assignments are moved until 2021-22 season with Covid regulations and the mandatory quarantine period involved. The same has been confirmed by Cricket Australia (CA) in an official release.

As per the media release, CA is looking for a suitable window in the next summer to accommodate these two assignments against New Zealand and Afghanistan. "Cricket Australia looks forward to working with our good friends at the Afghanistan Cricket Board and New Zealand Cricket to deliver the matches at a time when, hopefully, the restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic have eased," said Nick Hockley, Interim CEO of Cricket Australia.

"We all worked incredibly hard to make the series happen this summer, but the challenges around international travel and quarantine restrictions ultimately convinced all parties that the series would need to be played at a later date," added Hockley.

On the other hand, Cricket Australia are committed to host India for a full tour this summer season! As part of the tour, four Test matches, three ODI matches and three T20I matches are scheduled to be played! "CA looks forward to welcoming the Indian men's team for a full schedule of matches this summer in what promises to be an incredible contest across all three formats," stated Hockley referring to India tour of Australia later this year.

During the India tour of Australia in 2018/19 summer, India defeated Australia in the four-match Test series by a margin of 2-1 to register their maiden Test series victory Down Under. Notably, Australia were without the services of David Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft who were then serving a ban imposed by Cricket Australia following a ball-tampering scandal in South Africa Tests in 2018.
