AB de Villiers showed his class with the bat during the chase as he scored an unbeaten 22-ball half-century to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a crucial victory over Rajasthan Royals! With this victory, RCB solidified their position in the top 4 of the points table. They need 2 more victories in their remaining 5 games to book a place in playoffs.

Rajasthan Royals, having opted to bat first, promoted Robin Uthappa and demoted Jos Buttler to No. 5 in a bid to solidify their middle order. Uthappa scored 41 runs (off 22 deliveries) at a good rate while captain Steven Smith got to his half-century (57 off 36) which helped RR get to a good total. Overall, RR finished with 177/6 in 20 overs as RCB bowlers Chris Morris (4/26) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/34) bagged those six wickets.

RCB had a fumbled start to their chase! Aaron Finch departed after scoring just 14 runs. Poor strike rate by Devdutt Padikkal (35 off 37) and Virat Kohli (43 off 32) during their 79-run second-wicket partnership only complicated things for RCB's middle-order! However, AB de Villiers had other plans as he got RCB to a 7-wicket victory in the end with a crucial half-century. With 35 needed off last 2 overs, AB scored 25 runs from the 19th over (bowled by Jayadev Unadkat) to seal the victory.

AB de Villiers bagged the 'Player of the Match' award for his crucial half-century with the bat during the chase. A special mention should go out to RCB all-rounder Chris Morris who conceded just 4 runs and picked up 2 wickets in the 20th over of Rajasthan Royals innings. He contributed with the ball as much as ABD with the bat in this match!

Brief Scores: Royal Challengers Bangalore - 179/3 in 19.4 overs (Steven Smith - 57, Robin Uthappa - 41, Chris Morris - 4/26, Yuzvendra Chahal - 2/34) defeated Rajasthan Royals - 177/6 in 20 overs (AB de Villiers - 55*, Virat Kohli - 43, Rahul Tewatia - 1/30, Shreyas Gopal - 1/32) by a margin of 7 wickets
