Mumbai Indians (MI) thumped Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Abu Dhabi to get to 16 points and with this victory Mumbai have also solidified their position in the playoff race! Jasprit Bumrah with the ball and Suryakumar Yadav with the bat put up brilliant performances to take MI home in this game.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first. RCB dropped their overseas opener Aaron Finch for this game with fellow Australian Josh Phillippe replacing him. Phillippe (33 off 24) along with Devdutt Padikkal put up a solid 71-run opening stand inside 8 overs. Later MI made a brilliant comeback during the middle overs taking wickets at regular intervals. However, Padikkal marched along with a fine half-century before departing on 74 off 45 deliveries (12 fours, 1 six).

Among Mumbai bowlers, Bumrah conceded just 14 runs from his 4 overs picking up 3 wickets! And Trent Boult, Rahul Chahar and Kieron Pollard bagged a wicket each. Mumbai's stand-in captain Pollard got the wicket of AB de Villiers in the 16th over and that strike took the life out of RCB's momentum during the death overs. With a poor batting display during death overs, RCB only managed to 164/6 in 20 overs.

In reply, Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) held one end tight to take Mumbai Indians home with five wickets in hand. There was a little bit of drama on the field between Virat Kohli and Suryakumar but the latter held his nerve to guide MI to victory! Captain of Indian team versus uncapped player it was!! Virat was sledging from behind the stumps during Mumbai's chase and at one moment he walked straight to Suryakumar staring into his eye after fielding a delivery at short mid-off! But the expression of SKY after taking MI home sums up it all. A silent victory for Suryakumar over the Indian captain!

Suryakumar starred with the bat during the chase scoring an unbeaten 79* runs off just 43 deliveries which included 10 fours and 3 sixes. Next best in Mumbai's innings is 25 by Ishan Kishan. This says how commanding SKY was with the bat during the chase! Deservingly, he was adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for his match-winning knock.

Brief Scores: Mumbai Indians - 166/5 in 19.1 overs (Suryakumar Yadav - 79*, Ishan Kishan - 25, Mohammad Siraj - 2/28, Yuzvendra Chahal - 2/37) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore - 164/6 in 20 overs (Devdutt Padikkal - 74, Josh Phillippe - 33, Jasprit Bumrah - 3/14, Kieron Pollard - 1/5) by a margin of 5 wickets
