Match 2: Delhi won by 13 runs

With this victory, Delhi Capitals moved to top position of the points table with 12 points (6 wins in 8 games!). Rajasthan Royals are at the seventh place with 6 points (3 wins in 8 games).

Brief Scores: Delhi Capitals - 161/7 in 20 overs (Shikhar Dhawan - 57, Shreyas Iyer - 53, Jofra Archer - 3/19, Jayadev Unadkat - 2/32) defeated Rajasthan Royals - 148/8 in 20 overs (Ben Stokes - 41, Robin Uthappa - 32, Anrich Nortje - 2/33, Tushar Deshpande - 2/37) by a margin of 13 runs

Player of the Match: Anrich Nortje (4 - 0 - 33 - 2)

Delhi Capitals made a strong comeback to win the game! Despite posting just 161 on the board in the first innings, they showed the class of their bowling to restrict Rajasthan to just 148/8 in 20 overs and win the game by a comfortable margin of 13 runs.

All the hard work done by Rajasthan's top order was undone by the overconfident innings from Rahul Tewatia who scored just 14 runs off 18 deliveries! His innings was the difference and the reason behind Rajasthan's defeat tonight!

Wicket !!

Delhi made a strong comeback into the game. Rabada strikes as Archer departs in the 19th over. RR need 24 runs from 8 balls with 3 wickets in hand. Rahul Tewatia (11* off 14) is still at the crease.

Wicket!!

Is there a twist in the tale! Robin Uthappa (32 off 27; 4 fours, 1 six) is cleaned up by Anrich Nortje. Rajasthan need 27 runs from 15 balls to win. 4 wickets in hand.

Amazing spell from Ravichandran Ashwin

Just 2 runs off his final over and Ashwin returned with bowling figures of 1/17 in his 4 overs. That's an excellent effort from a spinner in a T20 game. Rajasthan need 37 runs from 24 balls to win. 5 wickets in hand.

Six overs to go!

Uthappa made a terrible call and his mix-up with Riyan Parag cost them another wicket in the 14th over. Rajasthan are 115/5 in 14 overs, need 47 runs from 36 balls to win. 5 wickets in hand. Very much gettable if played cautiously. The partnership between Uthappa and Rahul Tewatia is going to be crucial for Rajasthan in this chase. Two more wickets and Delhi could be making a comeback into the match! Kagiso Rabada's remaining two overs are going to be crucial for Delhi Capitals.

Wicket !!

Axar Patel strikes. Sanju Samson departs for 25 off 18 balls (2 sixes). Rajasthan are 97/4 after 11.4 overs, need another 65 runs from 50 balls to win.

Wicket !!

Debutant strikes. Tushar Deshpande dismisses Ben Stokes for a 35-ball 41 (6 fours). Rajasthan are 86/3 after 10.2 overs. They need 76 runs in 58 balls to win from here. 7 wickets in hand.

10 overs done and dusted

Rajasthan are marching along with a nice 45-run partnership off 36 balls between Ben Stokes (41* off 34) and Sanju Samson (21* off 13). RR need 77 more runs in 60 balls from here for victory. Very much achievable at this stage of the chase.

Injury Update:

Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer injured his shoulder in the fifth over of the chase. He went off the field and Shikhar Dhawan has been playing the role of stand-in captain.

Powerplay done and dusted! Advantage Rajasthan Royals at this stage as they are cruising along with the start Buttler and Stokes provided them. RR are 50/2 after 6 overs. They need another 112 runs from 84 balls to win with 8 wickets in hand.

Wicket !!

Its Rajasthan Royals captain Steven Smith this time who departs for just 1 run off 4 deliveries. Ravichandran Ashwin strikes in his very first over. Rajasthan are 40/2 after 4 overs. Target: 162

Innings Break!!

32 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the last 5 overs. Rajasthan bowlers pulled things back with brilliant death bowling. Delhi Capitals managed to score 161/7 in 20 overs. A total that Rajasthan fancy themselves chasing down comfortably when they come out to bat. Jofra Archer has been once again brilliant with the ball conceding just 19 runs while picking up 3 wickets in his 4 overs.

Brilliant comeback from RR's Kartik Tyagi with the ball: 4-0-30-1

Tyagi conceded 22 runs from his 2 overs without any wicket. And then conceded just 8 runs from his next 2 overs which includes the wicket of Shreyas Iyer!

Wicket !!

Captain Shreyas Iyer departs. Young Kartik Tyagi strikes to remove Iyer for 53 (off 43 deliveries, 3 fours, 2 sixes). What an over Tyagi has delivered! Just three runs off it and the wicket of Iyer in it. Delhi Capitals are 132/4 in 16 overs.

Score Update: (We are into the final five overs of the game!)

DC - 129/3 in 15 overs

Wicket !!

Shreyas Gopal strikes in the 12th over. Shikhar Dhawan departs while trying a reverse sweep! The left-hander departs for a 33-ball 57 (6 fours and 2 sixes). Score Update: Delhi are 95/3 in 11.4 overs.

Score Update:

Delhi Capitals are 79/2 at the end of 10 overs. Shikhar Dhawan (44 off 25) and Shreyas Iyer (27 off 27) are at the crease.

Halfway mark: 10 overs done and dusted!

Delhi Capitals are marching along with the momentum they got in the powerplay! The partnership between Dhawan and Iyer is now worth 69 runs off just 47 deliveries. The stand is threating at the moment and Delhi are flying away towards a big total in Dubai!

Powerplay (01 - 06 overs):

What a start for the Rajasthan and Jofra Archer who dismissed Delhi opener Prithvi Shaw for a Golden Duck in the very first delivery of the innings. Dislodged his middle stump with a brilliant length delivery! Ajinkya Rahane who walked in at No. 3 too succumbed to Archer's tight line and length and was caught at mid-on for just 2 runs (off 9 deliveries). Delhi's other opener Shikhar Dhawan managed to stay at non-striker end and hit boundaries off Jayadev Unadkat and Kartik Tyagi's bowling!

Overall, it was a good powerplay for Delhi Capitals after losing two early wickets! At the end of powerplay, Shikhar Dhawan (30* off 15) and captain Shreyas Iyer (10* off 12) are at the crease for Rajasthan! Royals are 47/2 at the end of 6 overs with Jofra Archer getting both the wickets.

Team News:

Delhi are still sweating over the fitness of Rishabh Pant who injured himself against the same opponents in Sharjah on last Friday (Oct 09). Ajinkya Rahane who replaced Pant for Royals last game against Mumbai Indians on Sunday (Oct 11), retained his place in the playing XI for tonight's match against Delhi Capitals. On the other hand, Delhi handed debut to Tushar Deshpande who comes in for medium pacer Harshal Patel. This is the only change Delhi made to their playing XI which featured against MI on Sunday!

Rajasthan Royals are unchanged from their previous game. Their skipper Smith has confirmed that Ben Stokes will again open today against Rajasthan Royals. Noticeably, Stokes had a poor outing in Royals last game against Sun Risers Hyderabad as opener. He scored just 5 runs off 6 deliveries with just a boundary. Royals won their last game (against SRH in Dubai) and they would want to maintain that momentum against Delhi in this game as well!
