Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the toss and opted to bat first in this game against Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH). For the first time, Chennai were batting first in this IPL 2020 season and it made a huge difference as they thumped SRH by a comfortable margin of 20 runs!

Having opted to bat first, Chennai got to 167/6 in 20 overs courtesy of contributions from Shane Watson (42 off 38), Ambati Rayudu (41 off 34) and their new opener Sam Curran (31 off 21). Ravindra Jadeja (25* off 10) played a little cameo towards the end which helped CSK got to a competitive total of 167/6 in 20 overs. Among SRH bowlers, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel and Natarajan bagged two wickets each.

During the chase, SRH batting unit failed collectively except Kane Williamson (57 off 39) who was their lone star with the bat. The next best in SRH's innings was 23 by Jonny Bairstow. SRH managed to score 147/8 in 20 overs conceding a 20-run victory to CSK. Among CSK bowlers, Karn Sharma and Dwayne Bravo bagged two wickets each while Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur bagged a wicket each.

With this victory, CSK put an end to their two-match losing streak and are now with 6 points in 8 games. CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja bagged 'Player of the Match' award for his contribution both with the bat and ball.
