Tuesday, Dec 08, 2020, Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney

After being sent into bat first, home team Australia rode on half-centuries from Matthew Wade (80 off 53) and Glenn Maxwell (54 off 36). Maxwell was dropped twice in this innings - by Deepak Chahar and Yuzvendra Chahal, both off Shardul Thakur's bowling - and was caught off a no-ball from Yuzvendra Chahal! Smith (24 off 23) too had a reprieve but couldn't make the most of it.

Overall, Australia managed to get to a mammoth score of 186/5 in 20 overs. India successfully chased down a 190+ target in the second T20I and another high target was in front of them in this match. Among Indian bowlers, Washington Sundar bagged 2 wickets while T Natarajan and Shardul Thakur bagged a wicket each.

During the chase, Indian opener KL Rahul departed in the very first over for a 2-ball Duck. Virat Kohli was then dropped on 9 by Smith, on 20 by Andrew Tye and had missed stumping chance on 82. He made most of these three chances as he scored 85 runs off 61 deliveries which included 4 fours and 3 sixes to take India closer to the target. But his innings went in vain as India fell short of the target by 12 runs.

Mitchell Swepson was the pick of Australian bowlers with three wickets in his 4 overs. He was economical too as he conceded just 23 runs at an economy of 5.8 runs per over! He was also awarded the 'Player of the Match' award for his bowling effort in this victory. With this India won the 3-match T20I series by a margin of 2-1. The next assignment will be four-match Test series that kick starts from December 17.

Brief Scores: Australia - 186/5 in 20 overs (Matthew Wade - 80, Glenn Maxwell - 54, Washington Sundar - 2/34, T Natarajan - 1/33) defeated India - 174/7 in 20 overs (Virat Kohli - 85, Shikhar Dhawan - 28, Mitchell Swepson - 3/23, Glenn Maxwell - 1/20) by a margin of 12 runs
