England are on the brink of creating history as their Women’s International cricket team are set to tour Pakistan for a limited-overs series later this year. This will be the first-time ever that an England Women’s side will be touring Pakistan!
What did they say?
“We are absolutely delighted to be making this historic announcement today. The England Women’s cricket team has never toured Pakistan before so this is another important step in our history and journey,” said Clare Connor, England Cricket Board’s Managing Director of Women’s Cricket.
“World champions England accompanying their men’s side for their first-ever tour to Karachi is an extremely powerful and strong announcement for Pakistan, our women’s cricketers as well as for the global sport,” said Wasim Khan, Chief Executive of Pakistan Cricket Board.
England’s men’s team would travel to Pakistan for a 2-match T20I series which will be played on Oct 14 & 15 in Karachi and then they would leave for India for the T20 World Cup. England’s Women team too would play their two T20Is on Oct 14 & 15 but will remain in Pakistan for three more ODIs in this tour. Both the England’s Men’s and Women’s T20Is would be played as double-headers in Karachi.
The three ODIs between England Women and Pakistan Women in this tour will be part of ICC Women’s Championship ODIs. All the five games (2 Women T20Is and 3 Women ODIs) in this tour are scheduled to be played at National Stadium in Karachi.
