IPL 2020 season was a grand success even though it was held in UAE. Playing at only three venues, all the eight teams have adjusted well to the conditions. And now, BCCI has announced that the IPL 2021 edition is going to be hosted in India which means the local crowd will get to have a share of fun during the upcoming 14th edition of IPL.
Here is the complete list of players who have been retained or released by each of the 8 franchises.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK):
- Tough IPL 2020 season for CSK as they failed to make it to the playoffs for the first time in the history of IPL.
- Raina is retained despite all the drama he created by leaving UAE just days before the tournament.
- Harbhajan Singh who missed the last IPL due to personal reasons has been released.
- Kedar Jadhav and Murali Vijay struggled to score runs and as a result, had been released.
- N Jagadeesan has scored a lot of runs in TNPL and will come in handy in home games for CSK this season.
- Player to watch out for: Young Ruturaj Gaikwad was their player of the season last year with three consecutive half-centuries towards the fag end of the tournament.

- Glenn Maxwell who failed to hit a single six in the 13 games he played in last season has been released.
- Players to watch out for: Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Agarwal and Ravi Bishnoi.
- Sheldon Cottrell who conceded 5 sixes in an over against Rajasthan Royals has also been released.

- Pat Cummins was an expensive purchase ahead of the IPL 2020 season and will also be the key bowler in their line-up for the next season.
- Players to watch out for: Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi.

- MI is the only team to have won the IPL championship on five occasions.
- Quinton de Kock and Ishan Kishan delivered for them with the bat last season scoring over 500 runs in the season.
- The duel between Suryakumar Yadav and RCB captain Virat Kohli grabbed many eyes last season and it will be the one to look out for in the next season as well.
- MI delivered superbly as a team and they have to just follow the same template to win the IPL 2021 season as well!
- Players to watch out for: Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard.
- Lasith Malinga announced his retirement from franchise cricket and that has made MI release him ahead of the upcoming season.

- Players to watch out for: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag.
- Ankit Rajpoot who averaged 99.50 with the ball last season has been released.

- Aaron Finch (268 runs in 12 games) had a terrible season last year and as a result has been released by the franchise.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):
- SRH made a fairytale comeback winning all their last three league games to make it to the playoffs.
- They also pushed RCB to fourth place with a better Net Run Rate.
- Jason Holder was a good addition to SRH last year as an injury replacement to Mitch Marsh.
- Jonny Bairstow failed to score runs which prompted SRH to drop him midseason and include Saha who delivered quite brilliantly.
