Shakib to make International return with Windies ODIs

Bangladesh have announced their 18-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies. Veteran all-rounder Shakib al Hasan who completed his one year ban imposed by ICC having failed to report fixing approaches has been named in the squad and is likely to feature in the ODI series if he is not injured!

Former captain Mashrafe Mortaza who was earlier omitted from the preliminary 24-member squad did not feature in this squad for Windies ODIs. On the other hand, Mahadi Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam are the uncapped players in the announced squad.

Opener Tamim Iqbal has been appointed as the full-time captain for the ODI side just after the conclusion of the World Cup and will also lead them in the upcoming Windies series. Thus far, Tamim led Bangladesh in 3 ODIs in which they had won just one and lost two games.

As part of this West Indies tour of Bangladesh 2021, both teams will play three ODIs and two Test matches. The first two ODIs of the series will be played at Dhaka International stadium in Dhaka on Jan 20 & 22 while the third ODI of the series will be played in Chattogram on Jan 25. The two Test matches will be played in February (Feb 03 – 07, Feb 11 – 15) for which the home team are yet to announce a squad.
