West Indies who are missing their experienced players thumped Bangladesh in Bangladesh winning the 2-match Test series by 2-0. This is some serious victory for the West Indies side as the home team has experienced players in its ranks for both the games! Let us relive the Test series.
Test #1: West Indies defeated Bangladesh by 3 wickets
Having opted to bat first, Bangladesh went on to score 430 runs in the first innings courtesy a century from Mehidy Hasan Miraz (103). Shakib al Hasan (68) and opener Shadman Islam (59) both contributed with half-centuries each. In reply, West Indies were bowled out for 259 conceding a 171-run lead to Bangladesh in the first innings.
Courtesy three early wickets, Bangladesh failed to score quick runs and hence a delayed declaration. Captain Mominul Haque scored a century (115) and Liton Das (69) scored a half-century as they declared their second innings at 223/8, setting a target of 395 for West Indies. After a collapse in the first innings, West Indies needed something special with the bat which was provided by the two debutants – Kyle Mayers (210*) and Nkrumah Bonner (86).
The pair added 216 runs for the fourth wicket which took them closer to the target! Once Bonner departed, Mayers continued on his merry way with the bat and scored an unbeaten double-century to take his team to victory with 3 wickets in hand.

Test #2: West Indies defeated Bangladesh by a margin of 17 runs
The confidence of winning the first Test match in Chattogram boosted West Indies to score 409 in the first innings of 2nd Test after opting to bat. Nkrumah Bonner (90), Joshua Da Silva (92) and Alzarri Joseph (82) all scored half-centuries each. In reply, Bangladesh were bowled out for 296, conceding a 113-run lead in the first innings.
Even though Visitors had taken a good lead, they failed to cash in on that! With only three of their players getting into double figures, West Indies were bowled out for 117 in their second innings. With 231 runs to win, Bangladesh were bowled out for 217 runs, conceding the Test as well as the series to West Indies.

Player and Match awards:
- Kyle Mayers bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his unbeaten double century on Day 5 in the first Test match.
- Rahkeem Cornwall bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his 9-wicket haul in the second Test match – 5 wickets in the 1st innings and 4 wickets in the 2nd innings.
- Nkrumah Bonner bagged the ‘Player of the Series’ award for his contribution with the bat through out the series – 231 runs in 4 innings.
What’s next for West Indies and Bangladesh?
The 2-match Test series is now done and dusted with West Indies taking the honors with wins in both the matches. As per the current itinerary, West Indies do not have upcoming international assignments in the near future. On the other hand, Bangladesh are set to travel New Zealand for a limited-overs series – 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is starting from March 20.
