South Africa to tour Ireland in July

Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Monday (Feb 15) announced a full limited-overs tour to Ireland which is to be played in July later this year. This will be the first instance for South Africa to tour Ireland and play more than one game on a single tour!

The three ODIs that are to be played in this tour will be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The tour will kick start with the three-match ODI series beginning from July 11 and will be concluded on July 25 with the 3-match T20I series. The first four games will be played in Malahide while the remaining two games will be played in Stormont.

“We are extremely pleased to have finalized the dates as quickly as we have and for that, we would like to thank Cricket Ireland for their cooperation and willingness to adapt the tour schedule as we continue to finalize our winter programme,” said Graeme Smith, CSA Director of Cricket.

South Africa so far played 5 ODI matches against Ireland and had won all of them! Three of those were in the 2007, 2011 and 2015 World Cup tournaments. Both these teams are yet to play a T20I match against each other! The upcoming 3-match T20I series would be the first-ever in the shortest format of the game for these two teams against each other!
