RCB register first 10-wicket victory in IPL 2021

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) led by their openers registered the first 10-wicket partnership of the ongoing IPL 2021 as they crushed Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Despite playing their all first 3 matches at the same venue, RR struggled to post a good total and in turn lost the match by even greater margin!

After being sent into bat first, Rajasthan Royals did not get off to a good start as they struggled in the powerplay. They lost their first 4 wickets for just 43 runs on the board. Shivam Dube (46 off 32) and Rahul Tewatia (40 off 23) then with brisk scores helped RR reach 177/9 in 20 overs. Among RCB bowlers, Mohammad Siraj and Harshal Patel bagged 3 wickets each while Kane Richardson, Kyle Jamieson and Washington Sundar bagged a wicket each.

In reply, RCB openers did the job as they got over the line with all their 10 wickets intact! Devdutt Padikkal (101* off 52) got to his hundred while Virat Kohli scored 72* runs in this 10-wicket victory! This is their fourth consecutive victory and RCB are yet to lose a match this season! Devdutt Padikkal has also been adjudged as the Player of the Match for his unbeaten hundred in this morale-boosting victory. RCB now move to the top of the points table with 4 wins in 4 games.

Brief Scores: Royal Challengers Bangalore – 181/0 in 16.3 overs (Devdutt Padikkal – 101*, Virat Kohli – 72*) defeated Rajasthan Royals – 177/9 in 20 overs (Shivam Dube – 46, Mohammad Siraj – 3/27) by a margin of 10 wickets
