Rajasthan Royals (RR) who had lost many of their premium overseas players for multiple reasons defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday (Apr 24) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Their all-rounder Chris Morris contributed superbly with the ball as the Royals almost won this game in a one-sided affair.
Having opted to bowl first, Rajasthan Royals picked up a sole wicket inside the powerplay. However, they kept Knight Riders’ scoring rate under check with strikes at regular intervals. KKR scored just 25 runs in the powerplay and were reeling at 55/3 at the end of 10 overs. Then the wicket of Eoin Morgan in the 11th over who was dismissed as run out without even facing a delivery help RR take the driver’s seat in this match. Dinesh Karthik tried his best but couldn’t them to a good total in this match.

However, their captain Sanju Samson held one end tight with almost a run-a-ball 42 to help RR win this match by a margin of 6 wickets and 1.1 overs to spare in their innings. Among KKR bowlers, Varun Chakravarthy bagged 2 wickets while Shivam Mavi and Prasidh Krishna accounted for a wicket each. Young RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal who replaced Manan Vohra contributed with the bat scoring 22 runs off just 17 deliveries in this run-chase.
Chris Morris has been adjudged as the Player of the Match for his brilliant contribution with the ball in this victory. After this match, Rajasthan Royals moved to sixth position with 2 wins in 5 games while Kolkata Knight Riders settled at the last place of the points table with just a win in 5 games.
