Former Australian player Brett Lee has picked his favorite players in each of the batting and bowling departments in the current era. According to International Cricket Council, Lee, in an interview, has picked Indian captain Virat Kohli and Aussie bowler Pat Cummins as the best in their respective departments in the current era.
“When you look at the recent greats, it is hard to look past Virat Kohli. What an incredible record he has got. He is only getting better with age. He has got a great mindset, a great cricket brain as well,” said Brett Lee.
“My favourite bowler at the moment is probably Pat Cummins. You might think that I am biased being an Aussie or because he was a former teammate of mine, but what I will say about Pat Cummins is that he is absolute quality. He has got a great technique. He has got a wonderful bag of tricks up the sleeve. To me, he is a guy that challenges the bat more often than most bowlers I see around the world,” added Lee about Cummins.
Lee made his international debut in the year 1999 in a Test match at the MCG against India while his last international match was an ODI game against England in the year 2012. During the tenure, he featured in just over 220 international games and picked over 700 wickets. Lee picked Indian great Sachin Tendulkar and West Indies legend Brian Lara as the best players from the time he was playing.
“My favourite Test batters from the time that I was playing would be Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. You could bowl six balls to him in the exact same area and he could hit them to six different positions on the field. With Sachin, you knew where the ball was going to go, but you had to stop the ball. He had an amazing cricket technique, a great temperament, and a brilliant cricket brain,” added Lee.
