Hazlewood likely to miss Boxing Day Test at MCG

Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood is unlikely to feature in the third Test match at MCG starting on Boxing Day as per an article published on the official Cricket Australia website! The article quoted young all-rounder Cameron Green in this matter!

Hazlewood suffered a mild side strain in the first Ashes Test match at Gabba which the home team won by a margin of 9 wickets! Hazlewood did not bowl on the third session of day three at Gabba but returned to bowl on fay four after night scans revealed he is fit to bowl. And he was subsequently ruled out of the second Test match at Adelaide Oval. Green is confident that H'wood will return for the fourth Test match at SCG.

"He's going really well. He was doing his run-throughs today and he’s looking really good. I haven't spoken to the guys for this game, but definitely lock him in for Sydney," said Cameron Green referring to Josh Hazlewood fitness ahead of the MCG Test.

On the other hand, Pat Cummins too missed the Adelaide Test after coming in close contact with a COVID-19 positive case. Australia had roped in Jyhe Richardson for Hazlewood and Michael Neser for Cummins for the second Test. With Cummins expected to return to the XI for the MCG Test, Australia might rest Neser for MCG once Cummins joins the XI.

Australia won both the first two Test matches at Gabba (by 9 wickets) and at Adelaide Oval (by 275 runs) and are leading the 5-match Ashes series by 2-0. The third Test match will be played at the iconic MCG venue beginning on Boxing Day!
