Cricket Australia finally decided on the venue to host the fifth Ashes Test match in the ongoing tour! Hobart which was scheduled to host the now-postponed one-off Test match between Australia and Afghanistan has now been given the green light to host the Ashes finale! This fifth Ashes Test match will be a Day/Night affair.

It was being reported that a maximum of 14,000 attendance will be hosted at this venue during this COVID time. Even though many like Shane Warne criticize the decision to host an all-important Ashes finale at such a small venue, but the one-off Test postponement earlier at this venue played the most considerable factor here!
"We considered a range of factors, including commercial, logistical and operational considerations. On the balance of these the CA board agreed on Blundstone Arena being the most appropriate venue to host the fifth Vodafone Men's Ashes Test match," said Nick Hockley, Cricket Australia CEO.
"We also acknowledge the postponement of the Australia and Afghanistan Test due to be played in Hobart earlier in the year played a part in the decision," added Hockley
Ricky Ponting who hails from this state is pretty much thrilled at this decision and he can't wait to get home to cover an Ashes home Test match for the first time!
Rapt for Hobart and everyone in Tasmania that we get an Ashes Test. Can't wait to get back to my home state next month for what should be a great week and hopefully a quality game.

Hobart is yet to host an Ashes Test match and it will be history at the end of this series are they are finally getting one! This Test match will be played from January 14 to 18. The very first Ashes Test match at this venue, how does it feel! It feels amazing. Isn't it!!
On a lighter note, Australia went on to lose their last Test match played at this venue (vs South Africa in 2016) by an innings margin!
