India defeated New Zealand by a huge margin of 372 runs in the second and final Test match of the 2-match series to win the series by 1-0. New Zealand held their nerve to draw out the first Test match in Kanpur but they were completely outplayed in the second Test match in Mumbai.

The second Test match started on a great note for the visitors with their spinner Ajaz Patel bagging all the 10 wickets in India's first innings. He became the third player in the history of Test cricket to bag all 10 wickets in a single Test innings after England's Jim Laker (vs Australia at Manchester in 1956) and India's Anil Kumble (vs Pakistan at Feroz Shah Kotla in 1999). New Zealand were able to bowl out India for 325 in the first innings.
What happened from that point has been a nightmare for the visitors! They were bowled out for just 62 runs, their lowest Test total in India! Mohammad Siraj started the collapse with a 3-wicket opening spell as spinners had taken charge later claiming the remaining 7 wickets between them! India did not enforce the follow-on even though India had secured a 263-run lead in the first innings! Indian bowled just 28.1 overs in this innings! Not enforcing a follow-on seemed to be a bit baffling at that stage!
Mayank Agarwal once again top-scored for India in the match with 62 runs as they declared their 2nd innings with 276/7 on the board, setting a target of 540 runs for New Zealand to win the Test match! However, NZ batters had no clue what has happened as Indian spinners shared 9 wickets among them with the other as run-out!
Mayank Agarwal has been named as the Player of the Match for his scores of 150 & 62 in this Test match. Ravichandran Ashwin bagged the Player of the Series award for his 14 wickets and crucial runs with the bat!
Brief Scores: India - 325 all out (Mayank Agarwal - 150, Ajaz Patel - 10/119) & 276/7 decl (Mayank Agarwal - 62, Ajaz Patel - 4/106) defeated New Zealand - 62 all out (Kyle Jamieson - 17, Ravichandran Ashwin - 4/8) & 167 all out (Daryl Mitchell - 60, Ravichandran Ashwin - 4/34) by a margin of 372 runs
