West Indies won the toss and opted to field first. After being sent into bat first, India posted a total of 190/6 on the board in 20 overs. Rohit scored 64 runs at the top while Dinesh Karthik provided a huge boost to the total with his unbeaten 19-ball 41* runs. Akeal Hosein bowled brilliantly for the hosts with his 1/14 from 4 overs while their other bowlers conceded heavily as India piled on the runs.
West Indies, chasing 191 runs to win, put together a total of 122 losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. India defeated West Indies by a margin of 68 runs to win this match! None of the Windies batters went past the 20-run with Sharmarh Brooks 20 being their top scorer. All the Indian bowlers enjoyed success with Ashwin being their pick with figures of 2/22 from his 4 overs.
India are currently leading this 5-match series by 1-0. The second T20I match of this series will be played on Monday (Aug 01) at Basseterre.
