Toss Update: New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first.

Having opted to bat first, New Zealand posted a score of 148 on the board losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Guptill's 45 at the top and James Neesham's 17-ball 32 down the order helped Kiwis post a competitive total on the board. Even though NZ are not boasting most of the experienced players in the squad, it was a decent effort for the home team bowlers with the ball.

The Netherlands, chasing 149 runs to win, put together a total of just 132 runs before getting bowled out in 19.3 overs. Top order batter Bas de Leede put on an inspiring show with the bat with his 66 runs from 53 balls. However, none of their remaining batters have gone past the individual 20-mark!

In the absence of veteran bowlers, Blair Tickner (4-27) and Ben Sears (3-22) stepped up to seal a victory for the New Zealand team! The second and final T20I of the series is scheduled to be played on Friday (Aug 05).

Match result: New Zealand defeated the Netherlands by a margin of 16 runs.
