Zimbabwe register series victory in 2nd Bangladesh ODI

Sikandar Raza put on another all-round performance (117* and 3-56) helped hosts Zimbabwe comfortably defeat Bangladesh in the 2nd ODI of the 3-match series to complete series victory. Zimbabwe currently have an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series.

Toss Update: Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to field first.

After being sent into bat first, Bangladesh posted 290 on the board losing 9 wickets in 50 overs. Their batters were under pressure having lost the first ODI and the total did not seem to be enough at the halfway stage. Mahmudullah (80*) and Tamim Iqbal (50) scored the fifties each but Zimbabwe bowled well to not conceded easily at the death.

Zimbabwe, chasing 291 runs to win, got over the line losing just 5 wickets in 47.3 overs. They were under huge pressure losing their 4th wicket with just 49 runs on the board but Sikandar (117*) and captain Regis Chakabva (102) added 201 runs for the fifth wicket to help them take back the advantage in this match!

Raza continued on his merry way after Chakabva departed and went on to register his second ODI century in as many games against the same opponents at the same venue! A team effort has helped the hosts register an easy win and take the ODI series.

Match result: Zimbabwe defeated Bangladesh by a margin of 5 wickets.

Zimbabwe, with this victory, are currently enjoying an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3-match series with the third and final ODI to be played on Wednesday (Aug 10).
