Babar, Rizwan step up again as Pakistan beat Bangladesh

Mohammad Wasim delivered a crucial 20th over as it helped Pakistan comfortably defeat Bangladesh in the 6th and last round-robin match of the T20I Tri-series in New Zealand. It was a close match where Bangladesh had their moments but Pakistan held their nerve to win the match quite comfortably in the end.

Toss Update: Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first.

Having opted to bat first, Bangladesh scored 173 on the board losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Litton Das (69 off 42) and Shakib al Hasan (68 off 42) batted brilliantly in getting them to a competitive total. The 20th over for them with the bat was a disaster in which they scored only 3 runs losing 2 wickets! Their wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan faced 4 off those deliveries scoring just 2 runs!

Mohammad Wasim was the star of the Pakistan bowling unit for bowling that outstanding 20th over! Naseem Shah (2-27) and Mohammad Nawaz (1-37) were the other wicket-takers for Pakistan.

Pakistan, chasing 174 runs to win, managed to score 177 losing 3 wickets in 19.5 overs. Mohammad Rizwan (69 off 56) and Babar Azam (55 off 40) once again scored most of the runs and Mohammad Nawaz (45 off 20) played at a good strike rate making sure they were never behind the asking rate!

Saifuddin dropped Rizwan in the 11th over when the asking rate was over 10. To complicate things further for them, he conceded 19 runs bowling the very next over! Overall, he conceded 53 runs from his 3.5 overs without a wicket.

Match result: Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by a margin of 7 wickets.

Mohammad Rizwan has been declared the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 69 runs off 56 deliveries with 4 fours. The round-robin games in this tri-series come to an end. The Final match will be played on Friday (Oct 14) between New Zealand and Pakistan.
