Mohammad Nawaz and Haris Rauf helped Pakistan comfortably defeat New Zealand in the Final match of the T20I Tri-series in New Zealand. This will be a big boost for them ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia especially after losing the 7-match T20I series in Pakistan against England a few weeks ago!

Toss Update: Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first.

After being sent into bat first, New Zealand scored 163 on the board losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Kane Williamson top-scored for them with 59 runs and they were heading for a huge total on the board. However, their batting at the death was a worry as they tried too many switch hits, reverse sweeps, and many more unorthodox shots which were not necessary. As a result, they found themselves at least 20 runs short which cost them the trophy!

Haris Rauf bowled brilliantly for Pakistan conceding just 22 runs from his 4 overs while also picking up 2 wickets. Naseem Shah (2-38), Shadab Khan (1-30), and Mohammad Nawaz (1-33) were the other wicket-takers for them in this match.

Pakistan, chasing 164 runs to win, managed to score 168 losing 5 wickets in 19.3 overs. They were once again under pressure needing close to 10 runs per over in the last 10 overs and that is when Mohammad Nawaz (38* off 22) and Haider Ali (31 off 15) played aggressively to take them home with 5 wickets in hand!

Michael Bracewell was once again the pick of New Zealand bowlers having conceded just 14 runs from his 4 overs while claiming the wickets of Babar Azam and Shan Masood.

Match result: Pakistan defeated New Zealand by a margin of 5 wickets.

Mohammad Nawaz has been adjudged the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 38* runs off 22 deliveries with 2 fours and 3 sixes.

Brief Scores: Pakistan: 168-5 in 19.3 overs (Mohammad Nawaz - 38*, Michael Bracewell - 2-14) defeated New Zealand: 163-7 in 20 overs (Kane Williamson - 59, Haris Rauf - 2-22) by a margin of 5 wickets
