Injured Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of T20 World Cup

India had to deal with a huge blow as their premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia which is less than 3 weeks away from now! The back injury that kept him out of the ongoing 3-match T20I series at home against South Africa is also the one that will keep him out of the marquee tournament.

The news was first reported by PTI News even before BCCI made the news public on their website quoting a BCCI official on conditions of anonymity: "Bumrah is not going to play the T20 World Cup for sure. He has a serious back condition. It's a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months."

Though BCCI even now did not state the extent of the injury or the time period that he will be sitting outside, one can expect this can be a long rest ahead for the Indian pacer.

"The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists. The BCCI will be naming a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the marquee tournament soon," stated BCCI in a media release.

India will be playing their first match in the World Cup on October 23rd against Pakistan and will have the deadline till the 9th of October to name a replacement without going through the event technical committee. India already lost Ravindra Jadeja to injury and losing Bumrah is just adding salt to their wounds. It has already become tough for India to make an impact in the upcoming T20 World Cup!
