Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan with the bat and Mohammad Siraj with the ball helped India as they comfortably defeated South Africa in the 2nd ODI of the 3-match series to level the series 1-1. In case you missed it, South Africa won the rain-marred first ODI by 9 runs in Lucknow.

Toss Update: South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first.
Having opted to bat first, South Africa scored 278 on the board losing 7 wickets in 50 overs. Aiden Markram (79) and Reeza Hendricks (74) scored half-centuries as they got a par score after opting to bat first. It was Siraj who bowled brilliantly for India conceding just 38 runs from his 10 overs in this match while picking up 38 runs including a maiden over.
India, chasing 279 runs to win, managed to score 282 losing 3 wickets in 45.5 overs. Ishan Kishan who got a reprieve early on in the innings while batting on naught scored 93 runs and was unlucky to miss out on a hundred which was there for the taking! Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 113* as India chased down the target with 7 wickets in hand and 4.1 overs to spare in their innings.
Incidentally, Wayne Parnell dismissed Shikhar Dhawan for the second consecutive time in this series - both were clean-bowled dismissals. Bjorn Fortuin and Kagiso Rabada are the other wicket-takers for Proteas in this match with a wicket each!

Shreyas Iyer has been adjudged the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 113* runs off 111 deliveries with 15 fours. The 3-match ODI series is currently level 1-1 with the third and final ODI of the series on Tuesday (Oct 11) in Delhi.
