Warner, David power Australia to series whitewash

David Warner and Tim David starred with the bat and Mitchell Starc was superb with the ball as Australia comfortably defeated West Indies in the 2nd and final T20I of the 2-match series at The Gabba to complete a 2-0 series whitewash.

Toss Update: West Indies won the toss and opted to field first.

After being sent into bat first, Australia scored 178 on the board losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. David Warner scored 75 runs off just 41 deliveries and Tim David scored 42 runs off 20 balls and the rest of their batters struggled to bat with a strike rate of around 110! Alzarri Joseph (3-21) was the pick of Windies bowlers while Obed McCoy (2-33) and Odean Smith (1-24) were the other wicket-takers.

West Indies, chasing 179 runs to win, managed to score 147 losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Johnson Charles (29 off 30) was their top scorer as they eventually lost the game by 31 runs. Most of their batters did not even spend a quality amount of time at the crease which contributed to their downfall in this match.

Match result: Australia defeated West Indies by a margin of 31 runs.

David Warner has been adjudged as the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 75 runs off 41 deliveries with 10 fours and 3 sixes. Australia won both games in this series to complete a 2-0 whitewash.
