After being sent into bat first, Pakistan scored 167 on the board losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. Mohammad Rizwan was once again effective scoring an undefeated 78* off just 50 deliveries including 7 fours and 2 sixes. Shan Masood (31 off 22) and Babar Azam (22 off 25) made notable contributions. On a lighter note, the Pakistan captain won't be happy with his poor strike rate with the bat! However, Rizwan was there at the crease to save the day for Pakistan!
Taskin Ahmed (2-25) and Nasum Ahmed (1-22) bowled brilliantly for Bangladesh while Mustafizur Rahman (0-48) and Hasan Mahmud (1-42) conceded over 10 runs per over! Lack of experience was clearly evident in this Bangladesh attack!
Bangladesh, chasing 168 runs to win, managed to score 146 losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Yasir Ali top scored for them with an unbeaten 42* runs off 21 balls including 5 fours and 2 sixes. However, he scored 20 runs off the 20th over when Pakistan already pocketed the game!
Mohammad Wasim was the pick of Pakistan bowlers with 3-24 from his 4 overs. Apart from Haris Rauf's 20th over, Pakistan bowlers were right on the money with the ball in this match!
Match result: Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by a margin of 21 runs.
Mohammad Rizwan has been adjudged as the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 78* not out off 50 deliveries with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Pakistan will play against hosts New Zealand in the 2nd match of the T20I Tri-series on Saturday (Oct 07) at the same venue (Christchurch).
