The rain made multiple appearances throughout the third and final T20I in Napier between New Zealand and India. And the visitors India did just enough to tie the match and bag the 3-match series. The match had a delayed start and was abruptly ended by the rain at the end of the 9th over.

India needed to score 76 runs at the fall of 4 wickets in 9 overs to win and they managed to score 75 runs at the rain break. The play did not resume after the rain break and India's total just leveled with the score and the third T20I ended as a tie. The first match of this T20I series was abandoned while India won the second T20I in Mount Manganui quite comfortably and thereby bagging the series.
Earlier in this third T20I, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first. Courtesy of half-centuries each from Devon Conway (59 off 49) and Glenn Phillips (54 off 33), the home team posted a competitive total of 160 before getting bowled out in 19.4 overs. Mohammad Siraj (4-17) and Arshdeep Singh (4-37) both bagged four-wicket hauls to keep India in the hunt.
Even though India lost 4 wickets in the rain-affected run-chase, they scored just enough to tie the game and win the series. Captain Hardik Pandya (30* off 18) certainly played a crucial knock that helped just about survive in this match!
