Zimbabwe have announced their 16 member squad for the upcoming three match T20 International series against Sri Lanka, which begins on Wednesday September 3 in Harare. The squad features the return of two seasoned campaigners, Sean Williams and Brendan Taylor, whose presence is expected to bring stability and firepower to the side.

Williams and Taylor Make a Comeback
Williams, the veteran all rounder, last played a T20I against Bangladesh in May 2024. Known for his consistency with both bat and ball, he adds balance to the middle order and provides an extra bowling option. Taylor, who recently returned to the Test and ODI formats after serving an ICC ban, now completes his comeback across formats. His experience as a wicketkeeper batter will give Zimbabwe’s batting line up added depth and reliability.
New Faces and Dropped Players
Alongside the senior duo, the selectors have recalled Brad Evans, the pace bowling all rounder, and promising young batter Tadiwanashe Marumani. Both players will look to cement their places in the team.
Making way from the squad that played in last month’s triangular series against New Zealand and South Africa are Newman Nyamhuri, Wessly Madhevere, Vincent Masekesa, and Tafadzwa Tsiga. Their omission highlights Zimbabwe’s intent to strike the right balance between youth and experience.
Raza to Lead a Well Rounded Squad
Captain Sikandar Raza continues at the helm, supported by regular performers Ryan Burl, Wellington Masakadza, Blessing Muzarabani, and Richard Ngarava. The squad offers a good blend of pace and spin options in the bowling department, while the batting order looks capable of both stability and aggression.
Series Outlook
The three match series presents Zimbabwe with an opportunity to fine tune their combinations ahead of a busy T20 calendar. Playing at home in Harare, they will aim to start strong against a competitive Sri Lankan side.
