Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in the first T20I of the three-match series to take 1-0 lead at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday (Jan 25). This is a much needed victory for Pakistan as this comes as only their second victory in this format of the game since the beginning of last year!
Having elected to bat first, Bangladesh scored 141 for 5 in their 20 overs courtesy a 71-run opening stand between Mohammad Naim (43 off 41) and Tamim Iqbal (39 off 34). In reply, Pakistan chased down the target with five wickets in hand and an over to spare. Shoaib Malik has been the top performer for the hosts with an unbeaten half-century (58* off 45 balls with 5 boundaries).
Malik has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for his unbeaten match-winning knock with the bat. The second T20I of this three-match series is scheduled to be played at the same venue on Saturday (Jan 25).
