Brisbane Heat defeat Melbourne Stars by 71 runs

Brisbane Heat defeated table toppers Melbourne Stars by 71 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium (MCG) in Melbourne on Saturday (Jan 25) to stay alive in the tournament! After this game, Melbourne Stars still remain at the top of the table with 20 points while Brisbane Heat moved to the fifth position with 12 points.

It was a perfect batting display from the Heat batsmen after electing to bat first. Riding on the half-century from AB de Villiers (71 off 37), Heat finished with 186 for 5 in 20 overs. In reply, Stars were cleaned up for just 115 runs in 17.4 overs. Adam Zampa of Stars and Mitchell Swepson of Heat were the pick of bowlers with three wickets each.

AB de Villiers has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for his whirlwind knock during the first half of the game! Stars are done with their 14 games in the round-robin stage while Heat are scheduled to play their only remaining game on Monday (Jan 27) against Melbourne Renegades.
